There is plenty of green space in Solihull and several parks to choose from.

The largest being Malvern and Brueton Park, which is a beautiful green space, children's playground and nature reserve. The parks cover approximately 130 acres, including tennis courts and a lake which runs through the southern end of the park. It’s the perfect place to relax after a long day shopping or for lazy afternoons with a picnic and a game of rounders.

It’s also only a 30-minute walk from the Blushes hairdressers in Solihull.

So, after a relaxing hour or two of being looked after in our salon, you can keep that chilled mood going with some fresh air and a stroll through the park. And maybe grab a drink or a bite to eat on the way.

The high street is a feast for the eyes with its timber-framed Tudor style houses and shops, and the incredible St Alphege Church founded in 1220.

There is also a thriving arts scene in the town centre at The Core, which is host to live music, comedy, theatre, dance and specialist exhibitions all year round.

Akamba is an unexpected African treat in Solihull and so random we had to include it in our top 5. It’s an unexpected and beautiful themed African garden centre like no other. It’s a place to shop, be entertained or sit back and relax in a beach bar.

This landscaped tropical garden centre is home to double RHS award-winning gardens and an incredible selection of exotic trees, plants and shrubs, and African style garden sculptures.

They also have a variety of live animals on-site in their reptile house and bird walk aviary, where you will get to meet a vivid array of birdlife and even handle a snake (if you’re brave enough).

The other great thing about Akamba is their delicious selection of African, and Caribbean food, so if you’re looking for something a bit different, head to Akamba.

Explore Packwood House

Last, but by no means least, is the fascinating Grade I listed property Packwood House, just on the border of Solihull, near Lapworth.

This timber-framed Tudor manor house built around 1570, now owned by the National Trust is an immaculate example of Tudor tradition with a selection of tapestries and fine furniture, all perfectly preserved in time. You can walk around the entire house and immerse yourself in its history.

Parkwood House is also known for its well-groomed gardens. Its wildflower meadows and beautiful orchards are the perfect places to relax and be inspired by vibrant colours and unusual plants.
